Driven by building things that matter to people.

Currently

Julia Troy is a director and creative leader at Troy + Troy, a production studio based in Stamford, Connecticut, where she and her creative partner, Marshall Troy, create commercials and campaigns for leading brands. Together, they direct film and photography for clients across food, beverage, product, and luxury categories; bringing high-end craft and storytelling to every frame.

Julia thrives on the energy of the commercial world, while leading on set, collaborating with artists and brands, and shaping ideas from concept through final delivery. She enjoys the versatility and fast-paced nature of building brands and crafting visuals that leave a lasting impact.

Formally trained as an industrial designer and innovator, Julia’s foundation in design thinking and product development gives her a unique edge behind the camera. Her strategic mindset, conceptual strength, and go-get-’em attitude quickly set her apart as a visionary leader. Throughout her career, she has built and directed hundreds of products and campaigns spanning housewares, electronics, toys, sporting goods, and lifestyle brands, and always blending creativity with clarity of purpose.

When she isn’t directing on set or developing her next big idea, you can find her sprinting alongside her team (often literally and figuratively), always chasing what’s next.

Previously

Julia worked at Quirky Inc. as a Design Director on the Product Team. She was responsible for managing and leading several categories as well as the Powered by Quirky Ideation Teams. Prior to that, she worked at Fahrenheit 212 where her passion for design-driven innovation, fused with her interests in consumer interaction and product aesthetic were just the spark she was looking for as a designer. She often found herself assisting both the innovation team and design team concurrently throughout the ideation process.

An IDSA Merit Award Nominee and graduate of Columbus College of Art & Design Magna Cum Laude, Julia immediately moved from her native state of Ohio to Connecticut to work for the product design consultancy Evo Design. While at Evo, Julia quickly realized that good design doesn’t exist unless it’s supported by a good idea. This mindset and passion to drive innovative thinking informed her process management and design for leading brands.
